So, I wanted to give everyone an update on the island home. Last I left you, I couldn't find my sewer line. My dream villa and my dreams of becoming an illustrious Airbnb mogul were spiraling down the drain—literally. Not only were all the water and sewer pipes rotted, but the electrical wiring was from the 1800s. Just kidding—probably more like the 1400s.

Well, great news! We found the sewer line, and repairs have been moving forward. We tiled one bathroom, changed the kitchen counter, and found the greatest plumber on Madeira Island. Not only did he repair all the pipes, but he also upgraded the heating tanks and water pressure. Let me tell you, I’ve never had such a glorious shower! The electrical system’s also getting an upgrade, but there are still wires we have no idea about. As the new ones go in, the mystery wires are just being shoved somewhere into the abyss of 3-inch concrete—probably the same place your second sock goes.

My family and I managed to stay there recently, sleeping on mattresses on the floor, sharing one bathroom, with barely any electricity and three kids—plus my sister-in-law. At least we got the internet working! This house is amazing, but man, this investment is making us broke.

The good news? We’re at the tail end of this adventure, and the surprises are finally done. Here’s hoping to have everything ready for November rentals.

Now, on to the best Marketing Tech newsletter in the market!

How to Build a Scoring Quiz in HighLevel

Why This Matters:

A quiz is not just fun; it’s a powerful tool for collecting data and improving engagement. By scoring responses, you can better tailor your follow-ups based on individual preferences and behaviors. This makes it easier to provide the right services or products to your audience, all while keeping them engaged.

Here’s how to set it up step by step:

Key Features of the GoHighLevel Quiz Builder:

  • Custom Fields for Scoring:

    • You can create custom fields to store scores, allowing for personalized calculations based on quiz responses. This keeps each contact’s score tied to their profile.

  • Using Surveys for Quizzes:

    • GoHighLevel uses surveys as the foundation for quizzes. This allows you to present one question at a time, creating a better user experience. Plus, you can add conditional logic to direct users based on their answers.

  • Simple Scoring System:

    • For each quiz question, you can assign point values based on responses. For example, you might give a higher score for “dog lover” responses and a lower score for “cat lover” responses.

  • Conditional Logic:

    • Customize the quiz flow with conditional logic. For example, if a user selects “dogs” as their answer, they can be directed to different questions or results than if they had selected “cats.”

  • Email Automation Based on Scores:

    • After the quiz is completed, users can be automatically segmented into different groups (e.g., dog lovers, cat lovers). You can then trigger email campaigns personalized to their quiz results, keeping them engaged with relevant content.

Pro Tip:

Keep your quizzes simple! While GoHighLevel allows for advanced customization, a quiz that’s too complex might lose engagement. Stick to around 3-5 questions for the best results.

Creating a quiz with scoring in GoHighLevel is a game changer for businesses looking to engage their audience and collect useful data. With the ability to segment users based on their scores, you can deliver personalized content and offers, improving the overall customer experience.

Whether you're targeting fitness enthusiasts, pet lovers, or business owners, quizzes can be a fun and effective way to convert leads into loyal customers. Dive into the quiz builder today and start creating interactive lead magnets that score!

AI Spotlight: OpenAI's New Model and Chain of Thought Reasoning

The latest AI advancements are causing quite a buzz, and this week’s biggest news comes from OpenAI with the release of their new OpenAI 01 model. This marks a shift from the well-known GPT-naming scheme to a new format, hinting at a major evolution in how AI models will be named and developed going forward. But more than a new name, this model brings some serious updates that could reshape how we interact with AI.

Why This Matters:

OpenAI 01 is designed to handle more complex tasks, specifically focusing on advanced reasoning, mathematics, and logic. Businesses and marketers who rely on AI for technical tasks, like analyzing data or solving complex problems, will find this model particularly useful. The new "Chain of Thought" reasoning adds an extra layer of depth to AI responses, making it a game-changer for decision-making tasks.

Here are the key highlights from the new release:

Key Features of OpenAI 01:

  • Chain of Thought Prompting:

    • The model doesn’t just generate answers but walks through its reasoning process step by step. This results in more thoughtful and accurate responses for complex queries. For example, the model can break down a math problem, explain its steps, and cross-check its answers before delivering a final solution.

  • Improved Accuracy:

    • In benchmarks like competitive programming and PhD-level science problems, OpenAI 01 shows significant improvements over GPT-4, ranking in the top percentile for fields like math and logic. This makes it a perfect fit for businesses that need more precise answers.

  • Two Versions Available:

    • 01 Preview for those on paid plans, and 01 Mini, which offers a more cost-effective option for STEM reasoning tasks. The 01 Mini model is faster and cheaper, making it a good option for those who want AI at a lower cost without sacrificing too much power.

  • Slower but More Deliberate:

    • One trade-off with the new model is speed. Because the AI is "thinking" through its responses, it can be slower to respond, which might feel like a drawback in some scenarios. However, the increased accuracy more than makes up for the slower processing time, especially when dealing with complex requests.

Pro Tip:

If your business deals with technical decision-making or requires solving complex problems (like advanced coding, math, or even strategic marketing scenarios), take advantage of the new Chain of Thought feature in OpenAI 01. While it’s slower, the added precision can help ensure your outcomes are more reliable.

The release of OpenAI 01 opens new possibilities for businesses and marketers looking to use AI in more advanced ways. From better decision-making to solving intricate problems, this model is set to transform how we think about AI in the marketing space. While the slower response time might be noticeable, the benefits in accuracy and reasoning are well worth it.

Stay tuned for more updates as OpenAI continues to roll out improvements, and consider how these advancements can enhance your business strategies.

Divi vs Elementor: Head-to-Head Comparison Made Easy in 2024

When it comes to building websites, Elementor and Divi are two of the most popular WordPress page builders on the market. If you're a marketer, blogger, or business owner trying to decide between them, you’ve likely noticed that both offer a lot of features, but they cater to slightly different needs. Understanding their differences can help you choose the best option for your website.

Here’s a quick breakdown of how Divi and Elementor compare in terms of performance, interface, modules, and pricing, with a mention of Spectra, another interesting option thrown into the mix.

Performance:

  • Divi consistently performs better than Elementor in speed tests. Thanks to its built-in CSS and JavaScript optimization, it reduces requests and loads pages faster.

  • Elementor lags behind with more HTTP requests and a slower load time. While customizable, it requires external optimizations to match Divi’s performance.

  • Spectra is the surprise contender, outperforming both Divi and Elementor due to its minimal code, resulting in faster load times, especially on mobile devices.

Interface:

  • Elementor uses a fixed sidebar for a streamlined editing process. It’s compatible with any WordPress theme, offering flexibility in design and theme choice.

  • Divi uses floating buttons and widgets, creating a more dynamic interface, but it's best used with the Divi theme, limiting theme options.

  • Spectra stands out for keeping things simple, working within the native WordPress editor. For those familiar with WordPress, Spectra’s ease of use is a big advantage.

Modules and Templates:

  • Elementor provides an extensive range of widgets and modules with 68 available in the Pro version, giving it an edge in design customization.

  • Divi offers fewer modules, but its A/B testing feature makes it ideal for marketers who want to optimize conversions. It also offers 350+ templates, leading in template variety.

  • Spectra offers 39 blocks with the Pro version, but these are designed for speed and flexibility, making it an efficient choice for performance-conscious users.

Pricing:

  • Elementor has annual premium plans starting at $99, with extra features like theme building and custom code support.

  • Divi offers a more affordable lifetime plan for $287, making it attractive to users looking for a long-term solution.

  • Spectra comes in as the most budget-friendly, with a full-featured page builder at just $49 annually. Its Business Toolkit plan, at $149, provides significant value, especially for agencies.

Conclusion:

For marketers and website owners, the decision between Divi and Elementor comes down to preference and specific needs. If you prioritize speed and clean design, Divi is the better choice, while Elementor is great for flexibility and broader theme compatibility. And if you’re looking for a modern, fast, and budget-friendly solution, Spectra might just surprise you.

Cool Shit We Found on the Internet: Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 Edition

Alright, we didn’t actually make it to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 (flights were expensive, okay?), but thanks to the magic of the internet, we dug deep to find the most mind-blowing tech from the show. From foldable TVs to self-hitching RVs, here's what blew our minds—without the need for hotel buffets or taxi rides.

  • 137-inch Foldable TV: Ever wanted a TV that’s bigger than most walls? This screen folds into itself to become furniture. And the price tag? Only $200,000—perfect for your yacht, of course.

  • AI-Powered Fridge: Samsung’s new AI Family Hub Plus can plan personalized recipes and even tell you when food’s about to expire. It currently recognizes 33 foods—step aside, hotdog recognition apps!

  • Self-Cleaning Robots: The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra not only vacuums but also refills and drains its water tanks by itself. And it has a flexi-arm side brush to tackle those pesky crumbs in corners.

  • RGB Color-Changing Toilet: Yep, you read that right. A toilet that changes colors. Why? Honestly, we don’t know either, but you know you want one.

  • Solar Buggy: A solar-powered electric vehicle from the Netherlands called the Squad. With solar panels and swappable batteries, it starts at just $6,000. Not bad for a car that charges itself.

  • Electric Grill: This sleek grill heats up to 700°F without gas or charcoal and sears meat like a champ. Plus, you can control it via app because, obviously, you need to grill remotely these days.

  • Muzzle for Loud Talkers: Picture this: a device that muffles someone’s voice by 80%. Perfect for those public calls where privacy is key—just don’t mind looking like you’re wearing a face diaper.

  • Facial Recognition Door Locks: No more fumbling for keys—Yale and Phillips debuted smart locks that unlock by recognizing your face or detecting when you reach for the handle.

  • Self-Tinting Prescription Glasses: These futuristic glasses adjust their tint electronically depending on the lighting conditions. No more switching between regular glasses and sunglasses—just let the tech handle it.

  • Transparent TVs: Both Samsung and LG showed off transparent OLED screens that blend into your décor when not in use. When turned on, they’re just as bright as your regular screen.

  • Chair with 20 Speakers: The Exopod chair comes with 20 speakers built into it for an immersive sound experience. Loud inside, quiet outside—a dream come true for anyone with kids (or neighbors).

  • Projector on a Gimbal: The Horizon Max projector is IMAX-enhanced and automatically adjusts its angle to different walls. Move from workout videos to movie marathons without lifting a finger.

  • Gesture-Controlled Devices: Neurolab’s gesture-control software lets you control devices with simple hand movements. It’s responsive and works with any camera—yep, even your old webcam.

  • Electric Smart RV: Pebble Flow’s smart RV can hitch itself to your car and has an app to control everything inside. Plus, it’s fully electric with a solar panel on top for off-grid adventures.

  • 3D Map Smart Home: Samsung’s SmartThings added a 3D home map feature, letting you see all your smart devices at a glance. Oh, and Tesla integration is coming this year—because why not?

  • AI Robots Everywhere: Whether it's AI-powered beds or Samsung’s smart home bots, the Consumer Electronics Show made it clear—AI robots are taking over your home (but in a good way, we think).

And there you have it—the Consumer Electronics Show 2024 from the comfort of our browser tabs. No overpriced hotel coffee or convention crowds, just pure tech bliss. If this is a preview of what’s to come, we’ll be ready when our house is eventually run by a color-changing toilet.
