14 Days, One Kid, and the Best Trip of My Life

If you've been following along, you already know — I just got back from Japan. Not a quick trip. Fourteen days, just me and my 14-year-old son, doing the kind of trip you tell people about for the rest of your life.

Tokyo might be my new favorite city on earth. Not "might be" — is. The toilets are as good as everyone says (you'll understand once you sit down). The food is stupid good. There's an animal cafe for basically every animal you can think of. We petted a capybara. We hunted down retro video games in back-alley shops that shouldn't still exist but do. We did a real samurai sword experience — actual blades, cutting through rolled rice paper, which is a lot more intense than it sounds when a stranger hands you a sword.

Top three trip of my entire life, easy. What actually got me, though, wasn't the spectacle — it was how clean, polite, and safe it felt walking streets that busy. Turn any corner in Tokyo and there's a new thing to discover. I didn't want to leave.

Okay — quick heads up before we get into the rest of this issue, because some of you are going to want to plan around it. I'm speaking at three places this summer.

AI Unleashed Intensive — Cancún, Mexico | Sept 30–Oct 2

I did this one last year and it wrecked me in the best way — genuinely transformational, not marketing-speak. In-person, all-inclusive (great hotel, better food), and this year's lineup includes Molly Mahoney, Austin Armstrong, and a few more names you'll recognize. I'm personally hosting nightly hackathons plus a full demo day. Early bird pricing is live right now and climbs the longer you wait.

The Freedom Shift — Free 4-Day Virtual Summit | July 30–Aug 2

Hosted by the Swedish Wealth Institute, and I'm one of the speakers on Day 2. Zero cost, stacked lineup — Brian Tracy, Jack Canfield, Les Brown, Nick Vujicic, John Gray, and Mark Victor Hansen are all on the bill. If you've ever wanted the "how wealth actually gets built" version of an event instead of the hype version, this is it.

GHL Engine Summit — $3 | July 30–Aug 1

Three dollars gets you three full days, 10am–4pm PST, 100% online. I'm speaking, along with Keenya Kelly, Whitney Bonds, Alister Shirazi, and Dakota — yes, the same White Label Suite Dakota from earlier in this issue. Grab the VIP ticket and Day 3's afternoon session (speaker notes, deeper access) is included. I'll be giving away more free stuff than you'll know what to do with.

Three very different rooms, three very different reasons to be in one of them. Pick whichever one's actually your bottleneck right now — not the one that sounds most exciting.

Alright. Let's get into the rest of this issue.

🛠️ The White Label Setup Nobody's Doing Right

Quick gut check: do you know why some agency emails land in the inbox and yours land in spam? It's not luck. It's three DNS records almost nobody sets up right — and it's costing you clients before they ever see your pitch.

I just ran a full build-a-thon rebuilding a white-label GoHighLevel agency from absolute zero — no account, no domain, nothing — and recorded the entire thing. Even if you already have a white label running, watch this one. The gaps I found are the same ones killing deliverability and margin on agencies that have been live for years.

Here's what actually matters:

  • Buy the domain, then move it to Cloudflare — always. GoDaddy or Cloudflare to buy, Cloudflare to manage. The second you do, GHL and Google Workspace both auto-detect it and write their own DNS records. What's a multi-step headache on other registrars becomes one click here.

  • Google Workspace has a $7/month tier Google buries on purpose. Not the $14 plan everyone defaults to — the Starter tier gets you the business email, 30GB, Gemini, and 100-person video calls. Same result, half the cost, times however many clients you're setting up.

  • You get 30 free email aliases. Most people pay for four separate inboxes instead. support@, sales@, team@, whatever you need — same account, zero extra cost.

  • Three records decide if you ever see the inbox: DKIM, DMARC, SPF. Skip any one and your emails are gambling on spam filters. This is the actual reason most cold outreach and client onboarding emails go nowhere — not the copy, the plumbing underneath it.

  • Segregate your subdomains on purpose. Agency notifications, transactional emails, and bulk sends should each live on their own subdomain. If your bulk newsletter send tanks your sender reputation, your appointment reminders don't go down with it.

  • Never connect a domain that already has a live site somewhere else. Sounds obvious until you do it to a client's existing WordPress site by accident. Subdomain it instead — always.

Pro Tip: Everybody obsesses over which HighLevel plan to buy — 97, 297, or 497 — like the number is the decision. It's not. Here's what actually changes the math: on the $497 plan, HighLevel charges you for add-ons like the AI Employee at their cost. You mark it up. Sell your $97 base plan with AI Employee bundled at $297, and you're pocketing $200 a month per client for a feature you didn't build. Do that across 20 clients and that's $4,000 a month of pure margin sitting on a checkbox you clicked once. Scale that to 50 clients running the same play and the plan "cost" pays for itself roughly eight times over before lunch. The plan tier isn't the offer — the markup is.

Worth knowing too: the guest segment covered White Label Suite (the rebrand of Xup), a lead tool that identifies website visitors by name, phone, and email before they ever fill out a form — plus property and mortgage data landing in about two weeks.

Full disclosure: this was a 2.5-hour build-a-thon. Everything above is the highlight reel. Sign up for HighLevel through the link below and I'll get you the entire recording — domain to deliverability to the pricing math, step by step, nothing cut.

🤖 GoHighLevel Just Gave Claude a Key to Your CRM

Here's the thing nobody's talking about yet: Claude can now read and write directly inside your GoHighLevel account — contacts, conversations, opportunities, calendars, appointments, payments, the whole thing — and run on a schedule without you touching it.

HighLevel rolled out an updated MCP connector (the Anthropic-flavored version), and it fixes the clunky parts of the old install. Once it's wired into Claude Cowork, you're not just asking Claude questions about your business anymore. You're handing it the keys to actually do things inside it.

Here's what changed and why it matters:

  • The install lives under Customize → Connectors → Add Custom Connector. Grab the endpoint from HighLevel's MCP docs page, name it, paste it in, log into your GHL account, and approve the scopes. Five minutes, done.

  • The scope list is long: contacts, conversations by status, opportunities, calendars, appointments, payments, social planner, blogs, emails, templates, knowledge base, subscription tracking, no-show recovery, weekly reporting. If it lives in your CRM, Claude can probably touch it now.

  • Run it on Opus, effort set to high, when you're first mapping out what it can do. This isn't a quick-question job — you want the model actually reasoning through your account structure.

  • The real unlock is pairing it with a Cowork instance that already knows your business. Once Claude has both the MCP connection and your business context, it stops giving generic suggestions and starts proposing agents specific to your actual pipeline.

The build that's already live: a daily conversation sweep, folded straight into an existing 9am brief. Every unanswered message across email and Facebook DM gets flagged and a draft response written — waiting before the day even starts. No manual inbox-checking, no leads going cold because nobody got to them for six hours.

Pro Tip: Most people will connect this, ask Claude "what can you do," get a feature list, and stop there. Here's the move that actually pays: point it at your real business and ask where the revenue is leaking, stage by stage. Do that and you get answers like the one I got — my own affiliate pipeline flagged as the leak, stuck between first contact and contract signed, with a nudge agent proposed before I even asked for one. That's not a feature demo. That's a diagnosis of your actual number-one revenue line. Build the agent it flags first, before you build anything else, because a lead caught before it goes cold is worth more than five agents that just summarize what you'd have read anyway. The connection is free — the agent you build off the diagnosis is the business.

🧠 This Week, Every AI Company Had the Exact Same Idea

If you're noticing a pattern this week, you're not imagining it. Every major AI platform pushed toward the exact same thing: less clicking, more agents quietly doing things while you're not looking. Here's the rundown — and what's actually worth your time versus what's just noise.

  • Claude Code's desktop app now has a built-in browser — hit Cmd+Shift+B inside a project and it opens right there. Click an element on a live site and tell Claude to change it, or point it at a page and have it read data off the screen instead of paying for an API to fetch the same thing.

  • Google's AI Mode in Search now connects to apps mid-conversation. Ask it to build a grocery list and it'll offer to connect to Instacart and check out. Search is turning into an agent, not a results page.

  • Claude can now log into sites using your 1Password credentials — without ever seeing or storing the password. Ask it to complete a task that needs a login, and it handles that step invisibly.

  • xAI added scheduled automations to Grok — daily triggers, inbox-watching triggers, the same loop pattern Claude and ChatGPT already run. Every major AI assistant is converging on the same thing: agents on a schedule, no babysitting required.

  • ByteDance's Seedream 5.0 Pro now builds ad creative from reference images, not just prompts. Feed it up to five references — a product shot, a brand palette, a past ad that converted — and it holds the characters, colors, and composition steady across new variations. It's also finally strong enough to generate readable text inside the image itself, which is where most AI image tools still fall apart.

  • Google Vids added Gemini Omni, so your slides now animate and your videos edit by conversation. Talk through what you want changed instead of re-cutting it, and drop your own avatar into the video if you want a "face" on content without filming anything.

  • The open-weight model race just got a lot more interesting. Mira Murati's Thinking Machines Lab — she was OpenAI's CTO, and briefly its interim CEO for about a day during the Altman ouster — released its first model, Inkling: 975 billion parameters, open-weight, built to be customized rather than to top leaderboards. GLM 5.2 has held the title of strongest all-around open model for a while. But the one to actually watch is Kimi K3 from Moonshot AI — a 2.8 trillion parameter model already beating Claude Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.5 on coding and agentic benchmarks in internal testing. It still trails the very top closed models overall, but for something anyone will be able to download and run themselves once the weights land July 27, that's a different league entirely.

  • Spotify now lets Premium users talk to their library instead of searching it. Ask "what was I listening to two years ago" and it builds the playlist. Small, but it's the same "ask instead of dig" pattern showing up everywhere else this week.

  • The new Siri finally shipped, and — surprisingly — people like it. Apple Watch owners get real AI for the first time. Early feedback's been positive, which is not a sentence anyone's said about Siri in a long time.

  • DoorDash gave AI agents a way to actually order food. A command-line interface any AI agent can plug into to search restaurants, compare prices, and check out — currently waitlisted for US and Canada. "Order me a burrito" is about to be a sentence you say to software instead of a person.

Pro Tip: Everyone's first instinct with a browser inside Claude Code is to use it for building faster. Fine, use it for that. But here's the move that actually saves you money: point it at research instead of code. X's own API runs anywhere from $200 a month on the old Basic tier up to $42,000 a month at the enterprise level, just to pull data most people check twice a week. Give Claude the browser instead and it reads the page the same way you would — no API bill required. Before you subscribe to another data tool or build another scraper, ask whether Claude's browser already gets you the same answer for free. The build is free — what you stop paying for is the win.

None of these are isolated updates. They're the same bet, placed again and again this week by different companies: whoever removes the most clicks between "I want this done" and "it's done" wins the next few years. Bet on the tools already doing it inside your business, not the ones still figuring out how.

A Robot Lost Its Head and Won Anyway

China just hosted the world's first real robot fight club, and one of the robots kept fighting after losing its head. Not exaggerating. Let's get into it.

  • The tournament's called Ultimate Robot Knock-out Legend (yes, URKL, no comment), organized by Shenzhen firm EngineAI and held at the Nanshan Cultural and Sports Center. 32 teams, all using the exact same robot platform — EngineAI's T-800 — so the only variable was software. Level playing field, winner-take-all on programming skill alone.

  • Robots threw actual punches, kicks, combinations, and recovered from falls using human-style fighting technique — not spinning blades or gimmick weapons, actual mixed-martial-arts-style combat.

  • Then White Eagle landed a head kick on a robot named Matador that was so clean, the head rolled clear off its shoulders on camera. Matador kept fighting anyway — completed all five rounds with no head, no cameras, no sensors up top — and won the match 3-2 on points because it had already banked a stronger first half.

  • The championship belt for this thing is worth $1.44 million. Real gold, real stakes, real robots losing body parts over it.

Underneath the spectacle, this is genuinely useful robotics R&D — engineers are testing how these things recover from damage and keep operating under real combat stress, which is exactly the kind of data you want before putting a robot in a warehouse, hospital, or disaster zone. But mostly, it's a robot that won a fight after losing its head, and that's just objectively incredible content.
