I Bought A House On An Island!
Master GoHighLevel with step-by-step guides for setting up a service calendar and email campaigns to streamline bookings and boost engagement!
For those of you who don’t know, I was born in Portugal about 47 years ago. My family had to sell everything to move to the United States, and even then, it was barely enough. We went from living on food stamps and in a car to eventually renting an apartment, gaining some stability, and finally moving into a house in the suburbs. Needless to say, I had a very humble beginning. For a long time, I never thought I would own a house. The pictures you see above are a testament to the fact that with hard work and determination, anything is possible.
For years, I dreamed of going back to Portugal to visit and stay for a while, mainly to show my children part of their heritage and because I missed it—the food, the wine, and the atmosphere. Then someone mentioned a Portuguese island named Madeira, and I fell in love. Imagine Europe on an island—who wouldn’t love that? So, I took the biggest gamble of my life: I bet on myself. My wife and I made an investment in our future retirement home and bought our dream home on the island. We hope to get our Airbnb up and running soon so we can share our dream with anyone who is interested.
This marks the closing of a significant loop for me, from having everything taken away to bringing it all back full circle by buying a home there. To everyone out there still fighting for their dreams, I hope this inspires you.

Shutterstock Merges with Envato
What It Means for WordPress Site Owners
The WordPress community is closely watching a major shake-up in the digital creative assets market: Shutterstock's acquisition of Envato for $245 million. This significant purchase has wide-ranging implications for WordPress users, as both Shutterstock and Envato are key providers of high-quality digital content used in WordPress themes, plugins, and media libraries. Envato's popular platforms, like ThemeForest and CodeCanyon, offer countless resources essential for WordPress site development, and their integration with Shutterstock could bring even more assets to the fingertips of WordPress users.
Envato, founded in 2006 and based in Australia, has grown to become a global leader in digital creative assets. Its marketplaces, such as ThemeForest and CodeCanyon, are go-to resources for web developers and designers looking for high-quality themes and plugins. By bringing Envato under its wing, Shutterstock not only doubles its subscriber base to 1.15 million but also enhances its content offerings, making it a more comprehensive resource for creatives worldwide. This move is expected to increase Shutterstock's annual revenue by 20% and its adjusted EBITDA by 15%.
For us, as regular users of both companies' images and resources, this news is particularly significant. We look forward to hopefully gaining access to even more media through this acquisition, which could provide us with an even richer pool of creative assets for our projects. However, this consolidation also raises concerns about potential contraction in the market. With fewer players controlling a larger share of digital assets, there's a risk that prices for media could increase, impacting how we and others display content on our websites.
This acquisition is a clear signal of the competitive and rapidly evolving nature of the digital creative assets market. With major players like Shutterstock making strategic moves to consolidate and expand their offerings, the future looks both dynamic and promising. Yet, the potential for higher costs could pose challenges for creatives and businesses alike. As we monitor these developments, we remain hopeful that the benefits of this acquisition will outweigh the drawbacks.

Stripemeageddon for Course Creators? Here’s What You Need to Know
Key Points:
Target Audience of New Rules:
The new Stripe policies primarily target transactions without clear content and general tip jars.
Content Creation Restrictions: Specifically focused on transactions that don’t have a clear product or service, such as donations or tips without an explicit deliverable.
Not a Blanket Ban:
Course Sales and Coaching Programs: If you are selling courses, coaching programs, or any digital products where a clear exchange of value occurs, you are not the primary target of these changes.
Subscriptions for Specific Content: Subscriptions tied to actual deliverables, such as a monthly course module or exclusive coaching content, are generally not impacted.
Reasons Behind the Changes:
Preventing Fraud: Aimed at reducing fraud and misuse, such as ambiguous tip jars and non-specific donations that can lead to chargebacks and disputes.
Enhancing Security: Ensures Stripe can monitor and prevent illegal activities, including money laundering through non-specific payments.
What to Watch For:
Pre-Selling Caution: Be cautious with pre-selling products without clear terms. Ensure you have a plan to deliver and communicate effectively with your customers.
Chargeback Risks: Maintain low dispute and chargeback rates to avoid scrutiny. Provide clear, valuable content and maintain good customer relations.
Stripe's Approach:
Proactive Monitoring: Stripe’s proactive measures are to ensure compliance and protect against fraudulent activities.
Specific Focus: These rules are more about regulating certain types of transactions rather than shutting down legitimate content creation businesses.
Action Steps for Course Creators:
Ensure Clear Deliverables:
Always provide clear, specific content or services for payments received. Avoid ambiguous transactions.
Maintain Good Customer Relations:
Keep dispute rates low by ensuring customer satisfaction and handling complaints promptly.
Multiple Payment Options:
Consider diversifying payment processors to avoid dependency on Stripe alone.
Stay Informed:
Keep up-to-date with Stripe’s policies and ensure your business practices remain compliant.
Conclusion:
Stripe’s new policies are not an outright ban on all content creators. By understanding these changes and focusing on clear, transparent transactions, course creators can continue their business with minimal disruption. These measures are in place to prevent fraud and ensure a secure transaction environment for all users. In other words, unless your doing bad things you should be good.
